Mike Taylor Master Barber

Head Educator

Mike Taylor is widely recognised as one of the very best in the business. He has come a long way since opening his first barber shop in Newbury, Berkshire at the age of 20.

He now has a plethora of shops across the South of England and co-founded the British Barbers’ Association back in 2010.

No stranger to teaching others, Mike already delivers training for short courses at his training academy in Poole as well as teaching and assessing barbering NVQ 2 and 3.

Gareth Clark Barber

Educator

Gareth Clark is a proud state registered barber and master craftsman with more than 27 years of experience in the industry.

Gareth admits he fell in to the industry because his dad was a barber, but feels fortunate that he did.

A qualified assessor, Gareth says he was trained “the old school way” and is a member of the Barber Council.

alan jones barber

Alan Jones (SRB)

Educator

Alan Jones has witnessed huge changes in the industry he loves, having spent 28 years constantly evolving, moving with the times and learning as he goes.

His career really took off when, as an ambitious youngster, he headed to the capital armed with his scissors and a thirst for knowledge.

Alan opened his own shop in Buckhurst Hill in Essex, where he traded for 14 years before opening a second shop in Sevenoaks in Kent in 2008.

Hannah Gregg Barber

Hannah Grigg

Educator

Hannah Grigg opened her first barbershop just before her 21st birthday and launched four more across Hampshire and Dorset in the decade that followed.

As well as running her shops, Hannah takes great pleasure in seeing a student thrive thanks to her teaching.

Hannah also performs on stage at various trade exhibitions showcasing her talents.

Luigi Caterino (SRB)

Originally from Naples, Italy Luigi Caterino is a third generation barber having learned his craft from his father and grandfather.

Having studied for years to gain diplomas in barbering, shaving skills and beard design, Luigi went on to work in his father’s shop. He has been running his own shop in Scotland for four years

Bones Barber

Simon Bethel

Simon, aka Bones, couldn’t be further from his previous career as a teacher.

The Exeter-based snipper used to be a school teacher, working his way up to a management position, before taking the plunge and retraining.

He now runs the Sandyman Chop Shop in his home town but hasn’t left his love of teaching completely in the past and is looking forward to his embarking on his role with the GBBA.

Luke Burgon

Educator

Luke’s career, spanning 13 years, has taken him to shores near and far.

He has worked as far afield as Melbourne and the prestigious Menspire in London, where he worked as part of the education team and travelled around the UK and Ireland delivering demonstrations.

stacey McCabe

Stacey McCabe (SRB)

Educator

Stacey McCabe is the proud owner of Jentz Male Grooming in East Kilbride, Scotland. There, she has practiced the art of barbering for 13-years.

The passion she has for barbering, and the care and attention she gives to each of her customers, allows her to provide enthusiastic education for the Great British Barbering Academy.

Stacey is also a former winner of the prestigious Scotland’s Best Barber competition – an accolade that the South Lanarkshire barber is very proud of.

Barri Lazarou (SRB)

Barri Lazarou comes from a family that has been involved in the hair and beauty industry for generations.

Having worked in and around barbershops from the age of 12, he is always looking to help his fellow barbers improve.

Today, the State Registered Barber is the proud owner of an award-winning Cardiff salon called Lazarou Brothers. With over 20 years of industry experience, the Master Barber is one of Wale’s finest.

Liam Hamilton (SRB)

As a former military man, Master Barber Liam Hamilton has the perfect disciplines for barbering.

Liam carried his barbering tools with him for more than 20 years while serving in the Coldstream Guards. Now, the State Registered Barber has hung up his rifle to educate others in the hair trade.

Liam owns and works between his two barbershops in Redruth, Cornwall, and is the proud founder of the Armour to Barber movement.

Yucel Olmezkaya (SRB)

Having previously run a successful mobile barber training business, Yucel Olmezkaya joins the Great British Barbering Academy with plenty of relevant experience.

The former policeman is known in the industry for speaking openly about his past encounters with mental illness and for his proud Turkish barbering roots.

As a former Hall of Fame winner with the British Barbers’ Association and the 2017 South East England Regional Shave Champion, the State Registered Barber is more than qualified to teach every element of barbering.

Sean Sweeney

Sean Sweeney took his first steps into barbering at the age of 13, sweeping hair from barbershop floors. He quickly gained an appreciation for the technicalities of barbering, as well as the creativity it gave him.

Today, the Master Barber prides himself on being a wet-shave specialist and a master of patterns.

When he’s not educating, Sean runs Sweeney’s Barbershop - an established barbershop – in Dinas Powys.

Robert Rix (SRB)

Educator

With more than 50 years of industry experience, Robert Rix brings an extraordinary amount of talent to the Great British Barbering Academy team.

He is the proud owner of The Master Barber’s Shop in Southport, where he works a full column of clients six days a week, performing in excess of 100 wet-shaves.

Robert is an accredited Master Craftsman in both male and female hair too; he is only the second Briton to gain this distinction.
